Set at a gas station on the edge of New Jersey, where everyone—including the customers—is swimming upstream. With Oregon ending its mandate, New Jersey is the last state where pumping your own gas is banned. In this holdout, JAY-R (a young attendant with college dreams); STEVIE (a poetic OG with stuck feet), delivery driver QUICK, and customer CANDY all navigate a space caught between here and there. Ambition is catching and what happens when you’re stuck flowing downriver? When Stevie can’t get her mind off of Tucson, she sets off a domino effect capturing radical resistance versus radical acceptance in a place just across the river from somewhere else.
